September 10, 2021 – Important message from Heather Hiserman, Coordinator of FCCLA Day at the State Fair of Virginia:
I need to apologize for the confusion over state fair tickets and registration. We wanted to get information out to advisers as soon as possible and used past year’s information. The fair has changed the process for purchasing tickets this year; this information was just shared with me. Please know that Virginia FCCLA does not have input on these changes; these things are decided by the State Fair of Virginia.

TO PAY FOR TICKETS IN ADVANCE
• Go to this link to purchase tickets and ride wristbands for the fair: https://www.etix.com/ticket/p/6679059/student-competition-thursday93021-doswell-sfva-student-competitions
o This link is specific for our day at the fair – Thursday, September 30th
o Tickets are $5.00 per student (there is a $1.00 ticket fee), so each student is $6.00
o With eight student tickets, you will receive one adviser/adult ticket for free.
o Additional adult tickets are $10.00 (there is a $1.50 ticket fee), so each extra adult ticket is $11.50
o Ride wristbands are $20.00 (there is a $3.00 ticket fee), so each wristband is $23.00
o This method requires a credit card payment and is non refundable.
o Once you finish this process, you will receive a confirmation email that has a link for your registration. It is important that you then complete the registration.

o With eight student tickets, you will receive one adviser/adult ticket for free.
o Additional adult tickets are $10.00 (there is a $1.50 ticket fee), so each extra adult ticket is $11.50
o Ride wristbands are $20.00 (please there is a $3.00 ticket fee), so each wristband is $23.00
o Chapters then pay at the gate with a credit card or check. Cash will not be accepted.

Chapters are HIGHLY encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to make the check in process easier for everyone.

SEPTEMBER 30: 2021 FCCLA DAY AT THE STATE FAIR OF VIRGINIA
A Message from the Coordinator of FCCLA Day at the Fair

Hello FCCLA Advisers!
I hope you have had a restful and fun summer. We are excited to be planning for FCCLA Day at the State Fair in Doswell, Virginia. I am organizing the event again this year, so if you have any questions feel free to contact me at hmwood@shenandoah.k12.va.us.
You will need to review the following important documents:
Schedule of Events for our day at the fair (MSWord docx)
Contests Entry Registration Form to use for those that are participating in our contests – pay special attention to highlighted areas (MSWord docx)
Sample Press Release (MSWord docx)
– Flyer related to our community outreach project (will be available soon)

FCCLA Day at the State Fair is Thursday, September 30.  Please note that registration is required.
This can be done at: https://www.statefairva.org/p/getinvolved/educational-expo

The Virginia SOL Scavenger Hunt will be available late September on this page of the website. Copies will not be available at the fair. You should print copies for your students prior to coming to the fair. There is no answer key, so explore the fair with your students to find the correct answers.

Because of the huge volume of entries in our FCCLA Contests, it is imperative that you abide by the attached schedule of events. Advisers should complete the summary form for his or her chapter and each entry should have an individual entry form securely attached to it. All necessary forms are attached. Poster entries will not be returned, so be sure to save a digital copy prior to printing.

We will be in the same location as 2019. We will be in the Best in Show Tent in the Harvest Landing Area. Also, please note that the 2021 Field Trip Guide will be posted in early September.
Entry/ticket information has not been updated for 2021, but I will share the prices for 2019; this may help in your planning until the newest numbers are released:
The entry fee is $5.00 per person; chaperones are free based on an 8 student to 1 adult ratio. Additional adults are admitted for $12 each. Please check the State Fair of Virginia site (https://www.statefairva.org/p/other/educational-expo) for more details. Keep in mind that information is being added on a regular basis.

Remind members to bring cash to purchase FCCLA items. Advisers, there will be a variety of items that make wonderful membership incentives, meeting prizes, and as public relation tools in the school and community.
I hope that you are making plans to participate in this exciting learning opportunity.
Take Care!
Heather Hiserman
